DRIVER / TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR - ADHC

We are currently seeking a Transportation Coordinator / Class B Driver who has experience transporting individuals who require para-transit services. Must also have experience in Dispatching and coordinating transportation, especially for the frail, the elderly and the developmentally disabled. Must be computer literate, knowledgeable in wheelchair tie downs and all aspects for participant and highway safety. Must have a good driving record.
Essential Job Duties:
- Book transportation for all ADHC/ADCRC and transportation/escort participants, including trips to and from the center with Life Steps transport and other available transport providers as needed.
- Prepare, coordinate and supervise ADHC/ADCRC van driver’s schedule for morning pick-ups and afternoon drop-offs for ADHC/ADCRC. Coordinate dispatch, and supervise driver’s schedules to provide transportation for participants receiving services in all the transportation/escort program between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
- Coordinates pick-up of the IILA/FAME quarterly from the International Institute of Los Angeles and picks up bus passes during the third to fourth week of the month before the next month of service.
- Issue transportation vouchers daily & Senior Center bus passes monthly as needed.
- Issue IILA/FAME vouchers to all participants in the center who express a need to go to a physician, grocery shopping, etc., who do not have other means of transportation or who our center vans are unavailable to transport.
- Record and maintain daily attendance records of all ADHC/ADC/ADCRC participants, including departure and arrival times from the participant’s home to the center, to ensure that the trips are not exceeding one hour. If trips are out of the service area, make sure a service area waiver has been approved. The attendance record will also include recording departure times from the center and arrival times back home to ensure participant has received services for at least four hours per day.
- Maintain clear communication and coordinate transportation with center social worker and clients’ families when arranging the transportation for all new admissions, routine & special pick-ups, make up days for enrolled participants, assessment days and visitor days in order to ensure a smooth service delivery.
- Record & maintain information on all vans, giving special attention to Section 5310 records/data in compliance with state regulations. Van drivers to submit information daily.
- Record and maintain required transportation and attendance information/data in the computer, and submit monthly reports to the program director for ADHC/ADC/ADCRC and Transportation/Escort program.
- Enroll Transportation/Escort participants into this program and collect participant fees as needed. Maintain appropriate record keeping information.
- Assist with other clerical functions in the administration office as assigned, which may include but is not limited to, computer/data entry, answering incoming telephone calls and routing to appropriate department, filing, etc.) as assigned by administrative assistant.
- Serve as a substitute driver, if a regular driver is not available.
Experience & Qualification Requirements:
- The ability to work as a team member and to represent Life Steps in a positive manner
- Knowledgeable in wheelchair tie downs and highway safety
- Prefer experience working with the elderly
- High School Diploma/GED
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- A current Class B drivers license
- Current auto insurance
- No moving traffic violations within the last 2 years
- Current driving record (Copy of DMV print out)
